Question by Bob: Are there any places in South Africa where animals roam free?
Are there any places in South Africa where wild animals still roam free and aren’t kept in any reserves or game parks? If not, why? and is there any other places in Africa where they do?

Smaller cats like Lynx, wild cats are able to live in the wild and in some areas, one can see small herds of antelope running about, but for really big cats like lions, no, they don’t live in the wild. In Western Cape there are some wild mountain Leopards, but again, extremely rare.
sadly, there is so much poaching going on. Animals need a lot of protection. There are some farms where animals roam around in the ‘wild’, but on the whole, most animals run about on huge nature reserves.
Building projects, like townhousing, holiday homes, golf courses, hotel and holiday resorts sprawl across many areas, so there has to be some sort of reserve to prevent wanton development.
